Black Russian Recipe

mw104.jpgThe great debate is whether the traditional Black Russian ever had anything at all to do with Cola…?

The aficionado says just Kahlua and Vodka. If served in a bar, then there’s sure to be cola in it - just to make it go further and keep you that little bit more sober and purchasing.

Tia Maria or Kahlua? Tia Maria is not the same as Kahlua, the flavor is markedly different, felt to be a stronger coffee flavor. When the Black Russian turned up in the 60’s/70’s Kahlua didn’t exist on the shelves, so yes, originally Tia Maria.

  • 2 parts Vodka
  • 1 part Kahlua
  • (top up with Cola…)
  • 5 Ice cubes

And some top it off with a big splash of Guinness.
