Yahoo food - more
The launch made sense given the activity that Yahoo observes daily on its site around 4 p.m: 1.5 million searches for recipes, said Deanna Brown, general manager of Yahoo Lifestyles.
“We are trying to answer the question, ‘What’s for dinner?’” she said. “Food is still a huge opportunity, which is why we have chosen to create a presence around it. In addition, we’ve had a demand from marketers.”
The site is stocked with home entertaining tips from Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, as well as detailed meal ideas from the likes of Rachael Ray, Epicurious, and AllRecipes.com.
The site also incorporates some of the other Yahoo! features. Social tools will let users interact. Yahoo Answers will be integrated into the site, and users can upload and swap recipes. Yahoo Local is devising a dining guide to give users reviews of restaurants in their areas.
