Christmas Nutmeg Cookies

2/3 cup butter
2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1 cup sugar
1 tsp baking soda
1 egg
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp cream of tartar
Pecan pieces

Sift flour, soda, salt, nutmeg and cream of tartar together.
Cream butter and sugar together. Blend in egg. Add dry ingredients to butter mixture, blending well.
Roll in 1 inch balls and place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten with fork and place a piece of pecan in center of each cookie.
Bake in a 350F oven for approx 10 mins.
