Habanero Jam
Put on roast chicken, grilled pork chops or even in your grilled cheese sandwich...
Serves: 1-1/2 cups
Ingredients
1/2 red onion, fine dice
1 red pepper, 1/2" dice
2 Habaneros, chopped fine
3 Tbsps red wine vinegar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup honey
1-1/2 Tbsps lime juice
1 tsp salt
Method
- In a small saucepan, saut? the red onion, red pepper and habaneros in 1 tbsp. vegetable oil for 3-4 minutes. Add the red wine vinegar and cook for 1 additional minute.
- Add the brown sugar, honey, lime juice and salt. Reduce heat to medium-low and cook for about 15-20 minutes until the liquid is thick and syrupy. Add water if it is too thick (remember that it will thicken as it cools).
- Pur?e roughly in blender or food processor. Transfer to a jar and let cool to room temperature. (Sauce will keep for several weeks in the refrigerator .
