Habanero Jam

Put on roast chicken, grilled pork chops or even in your grilled cheese sandwich...

Serves: 1-1/2 cups


Ingredients

1/2 red onion, fine dice
1 red pepper, 1/2" dice
2 Habaneros, chopped fine
3 Tbsps red wine vinegar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup honey
1-1/2 Tbsps lime juice
1 tsp salt


Method

  1. In a small saucepan, saut? the red onion, red pepper and habaneros in 1 tbsp. vegetable oil for 3-4 minutes. Add the red wine vinegar and cook for 1 additional minute.
  2. Add the brown sugar, honey, lime juice and salt. Reduce heat to medium-low and cook for about 15-20 minutes until the liquid is thick and syrupy. Add water if it is too thick (remember that it will thicken as it cools).
  3. Pur?e roughly in blender or food processor. Transfer to a jar and let cool to room temperature. (Sauce will keep for several weeks in the refrigerator .
